Travel tips – No more wobbly tables

This is probably our favorite travel hack yet

It seems that no matter where we go or how expensive the restaurant is, 7 out of 10 times we get seated at a wobbly table. It’s a constant irritant when we’re trying to enjoy a drink or a meal.

But we found an incredibly simple (and cheap!) solution.

Spend a couple bucks to stop the wobbles

Buy a cheap door stop at your local hardware store and tuck it into your purse or backpack. These work great as shims to steady wobbly tables on uneven pavement.

You’re welcome!

A small doorstop wedged under the leg of an outdoor table.

Safeguarding our investment

At €1.20 each (roughly $1.30) where we buy them, we don’t have a lot of money tied up in “table stabilizers”. But a major annoyance is reaching into the bag to get it, only to discover that after a couple glasses of wine on our last outing, we walked away and left it!

Mike, being the hillbilly handyman he is, devised a solution.

Our doorstop "table stabilizer" attached to Mike's day pack with a short cord.

He drilled a small hole in the wedge and tied a short length of cord to it. He tied the other end of the cord to his day pack. Now, when he grabs the day pack to leave the restaurant, the wedge goes with us.

Until next time / Até a próxima vez
